Im sorry for not putting it out the day we found out, but we had a lot to digest, and had some phone calls to make. The cancer has spread to her stomach, it is blocking the the lower part of her stomach where it meets the intestines. This is why she is ok for a few days, then starts throwing up for a few days, then is ok again, her stomach fills up, then empties by throwing up, and is ok for a bit. There is nothing the oncology team can do, she is to weak for chemo. Surgery is about 99% out of the question, its too risky to fix her stomach today, only to have the cancer spread right back to her stomach in a few days. The cancer will continue to spread, the only option she has is to put a drain tube in her stomach, never eat solid foods again, continue the tpn (iv nutrients), and continue to fight. The other choice, give up, call hospice and go from there. She opted to have the tube put in and fight. Like there was even a choice... She is out of surgery, in recovery, sleeping. Everything went well with the tube. Even though its called a feeding tube its not really a feeding tube, its purpose is to act as a compression release drain tube. Just so there is no confusion when someone else tells you they put a feeding tube in. Its is there to drain whatever doesnt clear the blockage. She will continue the TPN to get her nutrients and vitamins, and she can have soft, soft solids and liquids to satisfy her hunger and thirst cravings.
