Im sorry we havent updated with Madis renal scan results. We havent known quite what to think about them and have been praying through how to move forward but I think we have a plan. Madis intial renal scan was prior to her surgery last November where they corrected her reflux. Her intial scan showed decreased function on the right side and increased function on the left. Her left kidney was making up for the right but we assumed that would correct itself once things were reconstructed and proper avenues for flow were created. However, this renal scan showed no real change from the initial scan. We were very disappointed and confused by this because we were under the impression thus far that Madilyn had not suffered any permanent kidney damage. Of course, we have questions of concern about what this means for her long term function and overall health of her kidneys. After talking to our pediatrician, we feel like it is time to consult a new specialist. We want to make sure we are being as proactive in her care as possible to avoid future complications/damage if at all possible. So, we will be meeting with a new pediatric nephrologist to hopefully gain a better understanding of where things stand. We appreciate everyones continued love and support and would appreciate your continued prayers in these specific ways: 1. We were told last week that kidneys will not return to normal function after damage has been done. Right now Madis function is (68%-left and 31%-right). But, we serve a God that makes all things new! And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” 2. There is a new medicine we are putting Madi on to hopefully help with her extended periods of holding her bladder. Too much pressure on her bladder poses a risk of detaching what was re-implanted last November. Please help us pray that the medicine works well with no side effects. 3. Our meeting with the Nephrologist (TBD). That Jeff and I would have wisdom to know what questions to ask and that we will gain clear understanding.
