Im spending my day off mentally preparing for the next week. It will be the hardest of my journey. I am going through some pretty rough terrain in New Mexico. Heres a snapshot of a few hours that will be pretty exciting. Alamogordo Elevation: 4,336 ft Cloudcroft Elevation: 8,668 ft Difference: 4,332 ft climb Distance: 14.5 mi Im trying to shake off the fear of injury, my own ineptitude, fatigue, tiny shoulders on windy mountain roads, etc. But whatever. No big deal. Ive already slayed those monsters and won. Yeah, Im not scared. Pssssh. Look how beautiful it is (see video below). Once again I am finding that the more I focus on that which is beautiful (nature, people, love, courage) the less power my fear has over me. And I have fellow Eagles to hold my hand, guide me, and suffer (and rejoice) with me for most of it, plus the loving support of Miss-Ro Bot (as always) and Matt Miller, who just flew out from California to join us for several weeks.
