Im starting my second year as a WriterCoach with WCC. I work at MLK Middle School on Tuesday mornings only, so its not too much of my time. Every student in a participating class gets a coach, so theres no stigma attached, no singling out. I like that Im there for the student; Im not a parent or a teacher, Im there to help them work on what they want help with. I think its a valuable program. There were 650 of us last year. This year we need more than 700 to meet the needs of Bay Area schools. The training is easy and the experience is VERY rewarding. We need more coaches . . .
