Im starting to think the North Korea/Sony leak might be a computer-hacking groups response to government crackdowns in the US and UK. Causing a major diplomatic incident may seem like an escalation, but it certainly isnt inconsistent with the cyber-mischief tactics of groups like Anonymous; and in some respects, it may even be more probable than the current narrative, given North Koreas extremely limited technological capacity and the fact leaking emails and issuing threats to cinema goers are hardly the actions of a crazed despot with designs on becoming a nuclear power.
