Im stating my opinion here so I wont keep repeating myself. I dont agree with the SCOTUS decision. Its probably not for the reasons you think. I am a woman, and while its annoying that its always womens reproductive rights that are being trampled, thats not the cause of the vast majority of my concern and disillusionment. By allowing a corporation the special privilege of opting out of a federal mandate due to the personal beliefs of the company founders, SCOTUS has set the precedent that religious affiliation can excuse an employer from following the safeguards designed to support and protect employees from abuse and maltreatment. We are only 100 years into having a minimum wage, child labor laws, due process for investigation and termination, workers compensation, workplace safety regulations, and other programs to ensure that the working class is treated fairly by the employers that are large enough and powerful enough to make the common man a slave. This is a huge step backward but what is more terrifying is the door this opens for other powerful, wealthy organizations to use religion to directly and negatively impact the lives of the blue collar worker, both male and female. Be wary my friends, this is just another way to keep us in the dirt, staving off the heel of the rich that is trying to grind us.
