Im still a little wistful at the season finale of The Newsroom last night. I know all of the various complaints about Aaron Sorkin. I get peoples issues with characters or storylines. This finale was just another example for me of why he is a special kind of brilliant. Theres always something of the theatre about his best work. Book ending the series with the moments that preceded the pilot was wonderful. I love that he has something to say - about politics, about culture, about the news and the way we see it and create it, about social media, about intelligence, about social issues, about entertainment. Whether I agree with him or not, and sometimes I dont, I love that he passionately has a point of view and works to reflect certain things about our society back at us for conversation. I love that he makes you think. And with his crazy, specific dialogue, I love that he writes some of the only shows I have to be 100% attention to in order to not miss anything. Thanks Mr. Sorkin for another fascinating ride. Please dont stay away from my television for too long!
