Im still angry about the sloppy handling of the retiring - TopicsExpress

Im still angry about the sloppy handling of the retiring chinchilla ranch by PETA in California. PETA sold this as a rescue, but is actually creating homeless and mistreated chins through unmonitored births, irresponsible breeding, and homing chins with uneducated owners. THIS IS A DISASTER! PETA is creating suffering where there was not any before! PETA should stick to euthanization and away from rescue! Im sharing a rant from a friend Amber Gold, I hope you will keep reading: RANT WARNING: There is so much information in these articles. The ranch they bought the chins from ( paid $50,000 for the WHOLE herd and set up, did not take the animals like they say. They purchased them ) was a pet and show ranch( stopped pelting in the 60s ). Not a pelting ranch or FUR FARM like they are saying. It was a retiring chinchilla breeder. PETA waited for the transaction to clear between 2 ( one a lawyer who would not say who the buyer was ) individuals and allowed the original owner to believe that the ranch would still be operated as a pet ranch. Once the deal was done, PETA crucified the original owner. They slandered their ranches name. The animals you see in these photos are all healthy and blocky chinchillas. They were NOT abused animals. PETA then handed off the animals to SDHS. PETA did NOT give 1 cent to the rehoming and care of these animals. $100,000 was donated by the 3rd party, but you would think like a multi-million dollar organisation would donate SOMETHING to the animals they rescued ( but if you look into it, PETA donates >1% of their money and resources to rescue groups, orgs. charities and programs. ) PETA took advantage of this situation for publicity. These chinchillas are now being put up for adoption for $25 a pop. EVEN the females. The females were all in breeding, and female chinchillas gestation period is 111 days, roughly 3-4 months which means they are RISKING every pregnant female chinchilla and kit they adopt out to novice owners. ( so many bad things can happen during a chinchillas reproductive cycle. ). There are so many LIES being told to get donations, at the cost of someones reputation in the breeding community. However, The breeding community ( legit breeders ) have taken note of this and will not allow it. Chinchilla organisations are very upset. I for one just wish PETA would tell the truth for a change. There was NO abuse here, these animals were just a purchase for their propaganda. Also, the videos posted are a collaboration of videos that have NOTHING to do with the chinchilla ranch they purchased. Those videos did NOT contain any of their animals, nor did they happen at that ranch, but the videos did contribute thousands in donations by taking advantage of viewers compassion. These animals need knowledgeable homes. Not homes that will feed them fruits and nuts like SDHSs page suggests ( totally dated and incorrect information that can KILL chinchillas. ) . this just GRINDS MY GEARS.
