Im still processing my quick trip to and from New Mexico to do one last favor for my dear Jahaan before meeting her again in the akhirah, InshaAllah. It was heartbreaking, bitter sweet, beautiful, unifying, a reminder, a cherished memory, a reunion and a sad farewell.... We drove 12 hours to and 20 hours back due to two deadly accidents that literally closed the I-40, one involving an exploding gas tanker. After sitting in the parking lot of traffic for over 2 hours, we finally managed to backtrack to a town to find an alternative, more circuitous route...Traveling for hours through the tree-fully green Coconino and Tonto National Parks of AZ and NM, turned out to be a blessing. I took too many pictures which did no justice to what my eyes experienced, and day dreamed living in such an environment. I also met a number of dynamic sisters at the Islamic Center of New Mexico to include running into sister Heather who i hadnt seen since Jahaan delivered her oldest daughter 25 years ago at home (my first homebirth attendance---not yet a doula). It was especially nice to meet and sit a few hours with a real fb friend, Sister Diana. MashaAllah.
