Im still trying to work out what it is about Holden Caulfield that makes girls so mad. I find him hard to disagree with. Hes a cool cat, if you ask me. Like, you get to the part where hes talking to his kid sister and you cant help but think: Is this not the perfect relationship between two deluded little individuals? I mean, children, theyre kinda batty by nature. They cant help it, everything they do is what a Psychologist terms as Schemata. They mean, that every behaviour they exhibit is from a framework they have directly informed by every other thing around them. They adjust their internal thought patterns to accommodate this reality with these mechanisms which prompt a certain act, in a certain situation. You can think of it like, Judicial precedent, if youve ever studied Law, like I have. If you can listen to Holden talk about his kid sister Phoebe, and you still think hes a bad guy? I dont know whats wrong with you.
