Im suppose to sacrifice myself for my country. These words ring truer now than when used in the past. For in their effort to protect their people and their country, I must also remember that their actions also protect the rest of us. Even though great issues are discussed on the international stage, we seldom take the time to pause and reflect upon the lives of those who must carry out the grim jobs that keep us safe. With a heavy yet grateful heart, I say thank you to the young men known as the Burial Boys of Sierra Leone. A ragtag team of 20 something year old men who have one of the deadliest but absolutely necessary jobs on this planet, locating and burying the bodies of Ebola victims. For 6 dollars a day, these young men risk their lives while being ostracized by their family and communities for fear of contracting and spreading the disease to everyone else. vimeo/104432183
