Im sure Tulsa World movie critic Michael Smith would agree with me that this is a super time of the year to be a mature movie fan. Currently in local theaters is BIRDMAN (Micheal Keaton), NIGHTCRAWLER (Jake Gyllenhaal), THE SKELETON TWINS (Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig), and GONE GIRL (Ben Affleck) -- each quite worthy of your cinema cents. Coming right up are several additional films that seem destined for fascinating film-going and, quite possibly, major awards: ROSEWATER (Jon Stewart in his directorial debut about a broadcast journalist who was imprisoned and tortured in Iran), FOXCATCHER (Steve Carell, almost unrecognizable as a real-life eccentric multi-millionaire in a true, psychological drama), and THE IMITATION GAME (Benedict Cumberbatch as the famed breaker of the Nazi Enigma code). And this is just the early wave of awards season! Throw in the additions of more comfortable seating at The Circle Cinema and Cinemark Tulsa, plus the opening near Thanksgiving of the plush destination movie palace, Warren Theatres in Broken Arrow and weve got go to the movies fever. Bigtime!
