Im sure most everyone has heard of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. - TopicsExpress

Im sure most everyone has heard of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It has become a social media trend that many are following for what seems to be a good willed stunt for charity. But upon closer examination it surprises me that filming yourself dumping ice water over your head is actually the suggested way of avoiding making a contribution towards the diseases research. The act seems more like a stunt for personal notoriety instead of genuine concern for those afflicted with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrigs disease. That being said I nominate everyone that has more than what they need to donate what they can to those that are in need. And you dont have to film yourself wasting water to do it since 1.1 billion people lack access to clean drinking water, and nearly 2.5 million people die each year due to waterborne-related disease. For those who still wish to support the ALS challenge I suggest you take a look at how your donations are actually being spent here: healthimpactnews/2014/als-ice-bucket-challenge-do-you-know-what-you-are-supporting/ When only 27% of the donations actually go towards ALS research this marketing scheme becomes all the more apparent..
