Im sure that a few of you would like to know how #137 for Rani is going. The Worlds Worst Insurance Plan has dragged us facefirst through the mud for a week. All week, Rani was told that a nurse is looking at it, the medical director is looking at it. Right. Late Thursday, the insurer came up with some trumped-up reasons why they hadnt looked at it at all. Then, they came up with three more names of in-network doctors that she would have to go to -- and they invited us to start all over again. We started out with an out-of-network approval. By the end of the week, the insurance company decided to take back their approval, and deny the whole thing. So ... over the weekend I rewrote the appeal, and found four different executives to send it to and to call. Ive recruited a different person to make the phone calls. We will send the new second first appeal today -- and go back at it tomorrow. Please dont tell me to look to anyone else to help us. Insurance commissioners have no jurisdiction over self-funded plans, and state insurance regulations do not apply. When I take a case, the responsiblity to win it is mine. For the first time in many years ... I am feeling beaten down. This process is so cruel, and my responsiblity is so great.
