Im the kind of person who talks to everyone. Im the annoying person in the grocery store who connects with a stranger over the value of grapes. When shopping for clothes (100% consignment stores and/or Goodwill) Im the one who steps out of the dressing room and asks anyone standing near-by what they think as I pirouette in my second-hand new-to-me jeans. Several months ago I was in a used book store. I picked out a large stack and took them to the register. (I told this story back when it first happened, but feel moved to share it again... because its JUST. THAT. AWESOME.) The 20-something gal at the register started scanning the titles Id chosen. As she picked up each book, she turned it back to front, smiled and nodded, and offered a comment about whether or not it looked like a good read. We had so much fun simply CONNECTING. She was absolutely wonderful and SO engaging, had a gorgeous smile, and the BEST laugh on earth. I fell in love with her and we chatted about every single book in my stack. When she picked up the last one, entitled: The 100 Most Influential Women of All Time she GASPED, her eyes grew wide and she said, OH! Am I in there? And then she burst out laughing. BEYOND adorable! I said, Sweetie! If youre NOT, you SHOULD be! I love, love, LOVE looking at people I dont know like they were a friend...
