Im the luckiest girl in the world to have an open adoption, not just because I get to see Lane, but because it has brought Gina into my life. She is so much more than our sons mother, she is a friend, a confidant, and one day I hope to be half the woman she is and show half of the empathy this woman shows me on a daily basis, some birth moms may feel jealousy or other negative emotions towards their adoptive couple, but I can never feel anything less than love respect and admiration for the Millers. Its 2.5 years later and I still get encouraging texts, phone calls, photos ect.. Gina is friends with my grandfather on fb so the rest of my family can have updates as well. She is always patient and kind even though Im sure some days shed love to rip her hair out and drink a whole box of wine! Some people choose policemen or firemen or doctors as their hero.... For me my hero is Gina, because she didnt save me just once.... She saves me with every photo, every phone all every text every display of affection day in and day out even when she has an overly full plate herself she still finds room in her heart her life and her schedule to make me feel important.
