Im thinking about home schooling my son. My baby has his strengths - TopicsExpress

Im thinking about home schooling my son. My baby has his strengths and weaknesses as a student. He is great at math....100 on all tests but he struggles with reading comprehension and writing. He has an issue with organizing the info he reads to repeat it or write it down. His school doesnt have space for working with him on his weaknesses to turn them into strengths in their curriculum. Their solution is to hold him back in his grade. To me thats crazy because then what about the things he isnt struggling in? Should he be relearning it? Wouldnt that be messing up his growth as a student? He is not struggling overall. At L.I.U in my first T.A.L course we learned that children learn at different paces and they have strengths and as teachers we figure out creative ways to work on their weaknesses. Im finding that his school has no such philosophy. Its either you are learning at the same pace as everyone else and passing each test or you simply fall behind. Im worried that his zoned school may be the same. Do you think home schooling would be a good option?
