Im thinking the nightmare is that people cannot conceive of a world without energy on demand, and the privilege of driving to corporate headquartes to protest them. The degree of difficulty folks are having just considering life without Energy suppliers that many of us protest is stark. It is symptomatic of the difficulty in embracing change many of us argue for, but are unwilling to deal with the consequences of energy on demand for our comfortable life. You can use birch bark to make a house, transportation, jewelry, food containers, archival material for recording events, and many other uses, WITHOUT KILLING THE TREE. Industrial man destroys the earth and entire eco systems to provide just the things to replace birch bark. And their are many other gifts in the forest lands our mother has for us. Difficult to see though, through the haze of a smoke stack Yes the band played on, as the industrial Titanic, designed to overcome nature, slipped beneath the waves, perhaps a metaphor for our lives.
