Im trying not to hate my body. I love my hair and my hands, but - TopicsExpress

Im trying not to hate my body. I love my hair and my hands, but everything else I wouldnt mind switching out. Sound familiar? It sounds like almost every woman Ive ever known. At some point in her journey if not all the time. This womans honesty is striking. But if the thousands of emails I receive are any indication, she represents a whole awful lot of us. You can call it whatever you like, but when we are systematically taught to hate ourselves, the very bodies we come in, regardless of the size/health/appearance of said body, that is a problem. I dont think we are just wired this way, that we all came to this same conclusion about ourselves organically. But the beauty of it, is that its only in our agreement that we suffer. Its our own voice that matters. Its the most cutting when its mean and uplifting when its positive. You get to build it yourself. Its that very place, our own voice, where we have all the power. Whats important to YOU? What did YOU set out to do today? What are your passions, what drives you, what matters? Follow that. Put your energy there. Thats the whole thing, guys. I know HONY (which is awesome) just gives you snapshots of life. Surely this womans life is full of other things. But I decided a long time ago that no snippets of my life would be about beating myself up for my appearance. It doesnt match my values. Its not the whole of who I am. I dont think I dont measure up, and Im not interested in feedback either way. I hope this woman is able to come to that place too. So that her life can be all about things she values, and not devaluing pieces of herself.
