Im very excited to announce I will be joining Mark Doyle and many other good friends and colleagues for Fierce Angel Presents One More Time - The Last Dance @ Pacha London . . . an iconic final party at one of Londons most iconic venues before it closes its door. Ive just read this post from Mark, who signed my first ever track A Higher Place to the Hed Kandi label in 2003 . . . and I can remember performing it LIVE for the first-time ever at London Pacha! If youre gonna be in the UK on Sept 28, dont miss this! The year is 2003 things are going crazy with Hed Kandi compilations & parties, we are now actively looking for artists that can bring a bit more magic to the brand. One of the producers we work with brings in 5 tracks hes just produced on a CDR. Each one is a cool Beach House style track just right for inclusion on our next CD. At the end there is a bit of a weird one .. a more uptempo house track with a bit of guitar in it ..but what really stands out it the song itself and the voice on the track. Who is this? I ask & we start talking about the vocalist and I arrange to meet him. A few days later Peyton strides into my office, we click immediately and we start talking music, his background and generally all things Peyton. I explain that while I love the track the production on it isnt quite right. Id recently become friends with Eric Kupper and suggest the two of them work together. We put the original version on a Disco Kandi but I still thought it really needed a remix. After giving Eric a call I told him we had an amazing track by a stunning vocalist but it needed remixing to make it into the anthem it should be.. Just do Shine On for 2003 I said. A few months later Eric flew over to appear at Pacha.. I was DJing when he came into the box holding a CDR, he looked at me and said Its done, I think youll like it. Without thinking I threw my set out the window and with a packed dancefloor I played a completely unheard / untested remix. I cant explain the feeling of hearing that track for the first time but its fair to say it absolutely took the roof off of Pacha and over 10 years later its still a complete anthem to this day I still get goosebumps thinking about the first piano breakdown and the first verse and chorus and how the crwd reacted. Did I mention Peyton will be joining us and performing Higher Place on Sunday Sept 28th at Pacha.
