Im very pleased to have stumbled across your fun thrifty page! My money saving tip is going to be this Forever and a day* play dough recipe.. Ingredients 200g plain flour 100g salt 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 tablespoon oil 300ml water food colouring Vanilla/Almond essences (optional) Method 1) Put the flour, cream of tartar and oil in a large saucepan 2) Add the food colouring (and essence if using) to the water 3) Add the liquid gradually to the ingredients in the saucepan and mix thoroughly to get rid of many lumps as possible 4) Put the pan on a medium-low heat and cook, stirring constantly. The mixture will be very liquid at first, then it will begin to thicken suddenly 5) Continue to stir until the dough becomes very stiff 6) Remove from the heat and scrape the dough from the pan with a wooden spoon 7) Put the pan to soak immediately 8) When the dough is cool enough, knead until smooth Store at room temperature in an airtight sandwich bag or similar. Sometimes the salt will crystallise but a quick knead will see to that. *Disclaimer; This dough lasts us weeks/months even. Whether it lasts forever and a day, Ill never quite know! Happy creating :)
