Im walking up to a child whos motorcycle has just been t-boned by a larger, faster tricycle. Hes peculiarly calm, gazing off in the distance. I say to myself, Well, at least I know youre okay.. As Im helping the unhurt, yet dramatically frozen driver of the trike up off the ground, Im still fixated on the face of the other child.. I say something to the effect of My goodness; you look SO happy right now. What are you so smiley about?! His blue eyes litterally sprarkle as he points behind me towards the single patch of blue in a very grey sky, and says, Look! Theres one white puff in the sky! I dont think Ive ever heard a better expression to describe a cloud. But, witnessing a not-even-two year old child become so easily distracted-in the midst of an intense situation- by the wonder and beauty of nature.. I mean, genuinely awe-stricken, is a prefect example of the types of intangible gifts Im so fortunate to recieve on a daily basis. My kids ARE my hope and drive. My passion and motivation. I teach them what I know, the best I can, and they teach me everything else worth knowing. I wouldnt be able to become the person Id like to be without them.
