Im watching the Phantom Empire, as back ground noise. Its a 1935 subterranean science fiction film staring Gene Autry, the singing cowboy. He runs a dude ranch where he makes daily live broadcasts of himself, singing -- Radio Ranch. The kids at the ranch dress up as Knights, using buckets for helmets and stuff. They call themselves the Thunder Riders.The kids have been reading comic books and science fiction and have read about another race that lives underground in subterranean cities. Some criminals have been coming around trying to steal the radium that gets mined, underground. Suddenly they discover, its true, there is a subterranean people, the real Thunder Riders, who are slowly planning to take over the surface as soon as they can figure out how to breath like the humans on the surface. Thats right, the underground people need special breathing apparatus to come to the surface.
