Im watching the national conversation about Common Core State Standards. As an educational leader, I hold my staff and students to high expectations but these articles are quite foreboding. Heres an article out of Connecticut. All this test preparation, however, is not likely to help students, disadvantaged by poverty and racism, score well. The cut score or passing grade on the Common Core aligned tests has been arbitrarily set so that approximately 30 percent of the test takers pass and 70 percent fail. ctmirror.org/op-ed-connecticut-a-jim-crow-state/
