Im weirdly nostalgic for a rare piece of music from my high school daze. My mother hated this stuff and I played it over and over on the console stereo in the living room. It was a bit strange - a musical narrative of War of the Worlds with Richard Burton, The Moody Blues and a host of vocal talent lost to us now. Here is a sampling of the lyrics and a YouTube link to The Spirit of Man. There is a humbling element and echos of todays political troubles with the despotic American Christians: Beth speaking to Nathaniel, her injured and damaged husband following the invasion of the Martians, the local parson of a small English Parrish: There must be something worth living for There must be something worth trying for Even somethings worth dying for And if one man can stand tall There must be hope for us all Somewhere, somewhere in the spirit of man ... No, Nathaniel, oh no Nathaniel No Nathaniel no. There must be more to life. There has to be away that we can restore to life The love we use to know ... No Nathaniel no There must be more to life There has to be away that we can restore to life The light that we have lost. And if one man can stand tall There must be hope for us all Somewhere, somewhere in the spirit of man ... youtu.be/w6qEB5g8S2o
