Im wondering what people think of this - not necessarily whether they endorse drawing a picture of muhammed, but just really whether this is an appropriate response to the situation. In most circumstances I dislike it when people draw pictures of muhammed just because they want to be offensive, as it seems pointlessly antagonistic, but I have a bit more lenience here. I suppose its just the fact theyre saying we refuse to be silenced. Even if I disagree with the original message they portrayed, the bravery they show in repeating something which workers killed is quite a powerful message. I think also the fact muhammed holds up a sign saying Je suis charlie creates a sense of solidarity with muslims in France. Having said that, its also associating muslims in France with a movement some might feel uncomfortable being part of (especially with the islamophobia this entire situation has provoked). Some might not want to identify with the je suis charlie movement, and this is uniting them with it in the most controversial way possible. Its definitely a controversial front cover. I suppose the question is, is this tastefully controversial, or outright offensive?
