Im working on refinishing my 1903 singer sewing machine desk. It was a ugly, at one point in its life, someone painted it a ugly brown/peachy color. When I got it, the paint job was blotchy and it failed to make a smooth pretty surface. I am currently using the citrus-strip stuff. The gunk is coming off easy; but now, I can tell that the wood had deep stains from cans of who knows what being set on them. My question if you are reading this far....What color do I repaint? Black, brown, white? I was going to stain and poly it but it would come out ugly b/c of the stain issues.
