Image of the Day sportsecyclopedia Golson is Golden When we last saw Everett Golson he was leading Notre Dame to the BCS Championship Game in 2012. Last year the Irish were without the services of Golson after he was suspended for academic fraud. Now a senior Everett Golson returned Saturday, as #17 Notre Dame opened the season at home against Rice. Golson played perhaps his best game in his return completing 14-of-22 passes for 295 yard and two touchdowns. He also ran for 41 yards on 12 carries, with three scores as Notre Dame fried Rice 48-17. Everett Golson and the Fighting Irish will face a much tougher test next week, as they host Michigan for the final time in the for seeable future in a rare South Bend night game. The Wolverines opened their season by dismantling Appalachian State at the Big House 52-14.
