Imagine the national economies as ships in a huge ocean. Then - TopicsExpress

Imagine the national economies as ships in a huge ocean. Then imagine that all of these ships are connected via a rope (US dollar) to the US ship (US economy). Now imagine the biggest ship sinking to the bottom and dragging down the ships more proximate to it (Europe, Japan, China and the Middle East). As this happens, the ships in SEA thought it would be a good idea to connect more rope to China, Europe and to the US. The rope is being connected to them because their not sinking as fast; and this is the analogy I draw to explain the following statement: Despite concerns about Southeast Asia’s near-term prospects, capital is not yet fleeing the region wholesale because it doesn’t really have anywhere more attractive to go in the current climate.
