Imagine trying to walk up the street with a 20 kph wind at your back. Now imagine that each step you take, the wind increases logarithmically. You struggle to learn how to take even a single step. After a few steps, the wind pressure is more than your weight by many factors. You can no longer maintain contact with the ground. Deep awareness can be a bit like this. The stream of force that is insight intelligence is so momentous that direct exposure could shatter the mind’s structure with ecstasy. And a small success in learning how to merely stand up, usually precipitates the next developmental crisis. What is really hilarious is watching people go after this experience, or who have an anchor and think it is a river in the sky. The former cannot wait to fly, but cannot even sit up, let alone stand or see. If they were to fly it would be immediately lethal in many cases because they have not developed the necessary faculties and complimentary physical and proprioceptive analogs. But they are desperate to do almost anything to simulate it, with catastrophic effect. The latter take up representations and become fascinated with bizarre narratives that are delusional, and insult the actual strangeness they claim to capture or proclaim. But the point is this: if you get a hold of something you can hold onto, that’s got to be an artifact. The sources of insight and understand are so momentous and slippery that contact with them obliterates representations the way kissing obliterates words about it. What you can do is slip into it, become co-extant, and see with eyes that were yours long before you were you or I was me. Such experiences reform the basis of our perspectival assets and expectations, and this is a process that happens in waves, or layers. As each layer opens to development, you will see that they are nothing like the preserved artifacts traded amongst humans in cults of fascination. Nothing at all. — an anonymous informant
