Imagine you make dinner. Your new friends are coming over, and you want to impress them. You realize that maybe youre not thrilled with certain aspects of the meal and you had to cheap out a bit after all the hype. Youre gonna love this. Anyway, at dinner, it all goes pretty well. Possibly, someones given his or her stuffing to your dog, because hell eat anything, while distracting your attention. The conversation was lively. Later, you learn that you prepared One of the most horrible meals EVER! OMG! Its horrors have gone viral, even attracting the hate of those whove never come within 2 thousand miles of your cooking. Its terrible rep grows. Youre deeply annoyed, even though the guests you fed say they cant wait to come over again. Now imagine that whats being slagged is actually the country you live in. This scandalous meal has all been a terrible metaphor, I know. Sorry. You know that portions of what theyre saying are true, but at the same time you know its just so easy to find fault in others, especially when truths real, fake and embellished swarm like locusts and some wish upon you any number of biblical plagues just for being a resident of said nation. Does it hurt? Im a bit beyond that, as Im above doing it unto others. At least I try. Is it annoying? Yeah, its annoying. Ive resorted to clunky food metaphors to make this point. Where do you live?
