Imagining a time when NO ONE wears makeup. Teaching - TopicsExpress

Imagining a time when NO ONE wears makeup. Teaching confidence and showing people they have unique, celebratory characteristics instead of allowing them to think they have to be prettier to be valued or worthy. Wouldnt it be wonderful to have experiential classes in high schools such as Finding Your You, Self-Love: On Acceptance and Self-efficacy, or Exercising Empathy? One day we will teach students HOW to think and provide tools for strength and resiliency/sustainability, not simply WHAT to think. We are not robots just like we are not blind canvases to paint on. And the sustenance of regurgitated facts is on par with the talent of placing makeup or having the money for plastic surgery. A strong inner foundation is much better than no foundation, which is what commonly results in people trying to match up to others and create false boosts like what makeup does. If no one wore makeup, I think less people would feel the need to or want to. And we would all see the real beauty by nature. Beauty is in the awe of differences. If I walked around and saw untouched faces, I would be able to actually SEE people, not the store-bought versions they want to show me (aside from reconstructive surgery for those who have experienced injury, gender misalignment, etc.). And we wonder why we are disconnected. Even in my school in Korea, it was a downhill struggle to show my middle school girls how beautiful they were AS THEY WERE, not the mainstream-taught cookie cutter look of social norm. I know beauty is subjective, this is just a view through my colored lens. Food for thought brought to you by this music video. Its moving how much more beautiful I see the women in the second half.
