Imam Amin’s Friday Sermon: Two married women who are close friends are having a conversation about married life. The first friend tells the second friend: “whenever, my husband faces a serious challenge in life and he feels he can’t handle it, he pulls out his wallet, takes out my picture and gazes upon it. Just looking at my picture inspires him. He feels powerful and he then accomplishes his task.” On hearing this story and not being able to offer anything similar, the second woman feels inadequate so she sets upon her husband with the accusation: “why don’t you love me the same way as my friend’s husband loves her? Why do you not look to me for inspiration?” The second woman’s husband is perplexed. He does not quite know what to say or do to calm his wife. So he calls up his wife’s friend’s husband and asks him: “I heard that you pull out a picture of your wife whenever you are challenged with a serious problem and it helps you overcome your fear. Tell me your secret.” Replies the first woman’s husband: “No secret. I gaze at my wife’s picture to remind myself that even after being married 20 years to her I still have my sanity, then there’s no person or problem in the world that I cannot handle.”
