Imam As-Sajjad (a.s.) lived the sufferings of the tragedy of Karbala, as he encountered all its events. He was severely ill, and he could not take part in the battle, and Allah has a certain aim behind that, alongside his father, Al-Hussein (a.s.), the way his brother and household members had done. He went through the whole tragic experience of Karbala. He lived the events of the tenth of Muharram; that day in which he lost his father, brother and household members, thus, exemplifying the worst tragedy one can go through. Despite all that, he was firm in his position, and he demonstrated an utmost level of patience, as well as full reliance on Allah and satisfaction by what He has ordained. Never was it mentioned that he ever panicked or collapsed before the atrocity of this tragedy as he watched his people killed one after the other.
