Imam Sadiq (a) said: “Do not perform righteous deeds in order to show off in front of those who do not bring to life; who do not take life; and who do not have the ability to solve a problem for you.‛ Bihar al-Anwar, v.72, p.300 Brief Explanation All aspects of the life of those who are used to showing off in front of others are hollow. Their civilization is soulless; their life is full of imagination; their salvation is merely a name; and their religion is a mere compilation of rituals. It is clear that these people will not benefit from the deep aspects of religion; they will merely benefit from the apparent shell of the religion. Therefore, Islam severely criticizes this trait. It asks people why they show off to those who do not have any control over their destiny.
