Immaculate Conception Polish Church, at 88th & Commercial Avenue, - TopicsExpress

Immaculate Conception Polish Church, at 88th & Commercial Avenue, in the South Chicago neighborhood was built in 1899 as the main Polish church to serve the Poles in the community who worked inthe steel mills, Several other churches were split off from this congregation. The original altars were long removed, however, in 2002, a significant restoration was done to the church, and new altars were designed, based upon the original ones. As the light shines through the upper windows, the entire church is bathed in a very soft, blue hue, creating a sense of peace and serenity. Today, the parish serves a primarily Hispanic community, and no Polish masses are provided, however, the influences of the Poles live on in this beautiful church.
