Immersive is the word. Is there a more underrated, misunderstood and grossly overlooked actor than Nicolas Cage? What he does here is give a complete portrait of a complexed, vulnerable news reporter whose personal life and self-esteem are left in turmoil after his wife and children leave him, with odd humour and touching insight. His performance transcends the screenplay; he plays a true underachiever with bleak outcome and stark revelations. 4/5.
