Immigration : This is what I dont understand. We have a immigration laws and policies in place. Some how our Federal Government has failed to enforce the current law. It is assumed that it is not enforced because the law is bad. But how do we know that it is bad if we do not fully enforce the law. The result is that Congress wants to change the law. Neither side wants to compromise. It is all or nothing. This led to the President using an executive order to create a new law. In my opinion this exceeds his authority as President. Yes executive orders have been used by all previous Presidents but not to the extent as the Immigration executive order. My solution is to enforce the existing law until such time as Congress can revise the law. The Presidents use of executive order is illegal, and only politically motivated. The next Congress is likely to pass an immigration law that is in opposition of the Presidents executive order. This is political finger pointing as its best. Enforce the law on the books until Congress changes the law. Our system of government has checks and balances. The Judaical branch needs to find that the Presidents executive order is illegal and unconstitutional. The judicial branch is charged with this responsibility under our Constitution. I am just a layman but this is my understanding of the situation as Joel Q Public.
