Immigration officer of Rakhine state,Police commissioner of Rakhine state and authorities went to Sanpya(Basara)village,Sittwe,Arkan and made a meeting with villagers of Sanpya village regarding upcoming census at 8:00AM yesterday 25Mar2014. During meeting,Immigration officer said,dont fill Rohingya ethnic name in census.It was not registered by govt.youd better fill ethnic name that was registered by govt for u or leave blank column of race.We govt worry that Rakhineses may make violence if u fill Rohingya ethnic name in census.Ethnic name will be decided by govt.So one of Rohingya communitis called Md.Ali(village leader) asked them whether they had chance to ask a question immigration officer,police commissioner that they wanna know about filling ethnic name in census.So a police scared him,dont ask anything.Just listen what we are telling u..Meeting was over at 93:30 AM yesterday.Then they went to Bumay Qr,Sittwe and told same words that was told in Sanpya(Basara)village. RHG community leaders replied,we all are looking forward to filling Rohingya ethnic name in census.Also u govt told us in your previous meetings that we have option to fill freely our ethnic name.But now,u are telling us not to fill Rohingya ethnic name at the time census is nearest.How can we accept it.We all will fill Rohingya ethnic name in census.If we dont have option to fill freely our original ethnic name,we wont participate in census.So officer told they worry Rakhine.Md.Ali is worrying that he will be scared and arrested by authorities.
