Important Tips #3: Apply Vastu to your Kitchen for Good Health and Good Luck of Family Members - Part 1 Your kitchen is a very important part of the home that nourishes and sustains life. It is the source of good health for all family members in the house. Kitchen is the place where food (source of our daily nourishment) is cooked. The food you eat gives you energy. For this energy to be of high and positive, the food needs to be prepared in a well-designed Kitchen. Similarly if the food is cooked under negative energy of the room due to bad design and placement of kitchen, it results in ill-health and bad luck for members of the house. Therefore as per Vastu Shastra the placement of the kitchen and its design has an effect on the health of the members in the house. It is therefore advised to plan your kitchen according to Vastu recommendations. Your Kitchen Location The best location/ direction for a kitchen is the Southeastern corner of a house. Hundreds of years ago when cooking was done on earthen cooking stove usually placed outside the house. During those times the materials used of building homes were combustible in nature. That is the reason the cooking fire was kept in South east corner to avoid the blowing winds to cause any damage to house. This theory still applies even if the cooking is done inside house. South East direction is also called as the Agneya Disha (the Fire, source of Energy). Food cooked in this SE direction is full of positive energy. The second best choice for placement of the kitchen is the Northwest of a house. Any other location for your kitchen must be avoided as for any other direction for kitchen can be a blockage for good luck and can affect career growth for members of family. This can be corrected by placing a crystal Jupiter pyramid just above the kitchen stove. Placing the Jupiter pyramid will minimize the negative energy and its vibration. Things that bring negative energy in Kitchen and therefore must be avoided The kitchen must never be located in the North or North East as it brings bad luck and can adversely affect a person’s career. Kitchen must never face the main door or entrance of the house. The temple or pooja room must never be placed above the kitchen sink as it is believed to drain money on unwanted expenses for the members of the family. The temple or pooja room must never be placed above the kitchen stove as it is believed that it will burn the blessings from the God. The kitchen should not be placed under or above a toilet or bathroom. The toilet and kitchen should never share a common wall. It can have adverse effect on the health of members of the house. The kitchen sink should be at least two to three feet away from the stove/gas. Stove in the kitchen should not be visible from outside.
