Important Update regarding preliminary design: Ice Surface Dimensions. Thanks to Simon who asked a good question earlier regarding the proposed size of the ice surface. He also raised an excellent point regarding minimum requirements for changing rooms, etc., so that we can host international events. You will all be pleased - and relieved :) - to note that our initial concept plans align with all specifications outlined in IIHF Technical Guidelines of an Ice Rink, Section 3.3: IIHF Prototype Definition. These include (amongst other things) a 60m x 30m ice surface and six changing rooms. Whether youre into speed skating, figure/dance skating, hockey, curling or simply recreational skating for fun & fitness, this is going to be the most fun sporting & recreational centre in the Lower North Island for participants and spectators alike.
