Important advice for songwriters: I was once taught in a high pressure session never commit to any idea until you know in your gut its the right idea. I used to go in the studio (for my own music) and write verses and hooks I thought sounded good to me and leave it untouched. Over the past 2 years Ive become critical of myself in a constructive way. I record it. I go home and listen over and over again. I re-write parts completely, I keep great parts, I listen again. This process goes on until I KNOW in my gut this is what the song wants. Never settle for a mediocre song because you dont have the studio time or because youre in a rush. Be patience with your pen. You owe it to yourself and your listeners.
