Important as it is that we recognize God working in us, I would yet warn against a too-great preoccupation with the thought. It is a sure road to sterile passivity. God will not hold us responsible to understand the mysteries of election, predestination and the divine sovereignty. Tozer The Pursuit of God *** A friend posted this on her wall and it really spoke to my soul. I have indeed been preaching, and debating my belief in TULIP. I do believe some can indeed be understood, I do believe it is truth, else Id not hold to it, I would never KNOWINGLY choose to believe a lie. None the less, I DO hold it a non essential doctrine, as I have stated, and indeed mean. I also trust that God indeed will lead His sheep into ll truth, so am content to allow Him to lead them, when it may be somewhere they are not anxious to go right now. I have enough to do to seek to obey Him myself, when he leads ME where I do not really want to go! I have found also, that debating this tends to only produce ill will, even among those who hold much in common elsewhere in our convictions Those who oppose TULIP, DO have many passages of Scripture to support their claims. We who hod, TO it likewise have many, it is a matter of interpretation. Therefore I am NOT going to engage in further DEBATE with those who differ, and whom only wish to correct me. If someone actually just wants to understand more, sure I will try to help you, but I know some books which can do an excellent job of this I may recommend and leave it there As for me, I desire to forsake this trap I seem to have worked myself into, and going back to proclaiming and defending the essential Gospel which we all agree on, and contending AGAINST that only which is essential error, truly heretical, and NOT non essential differences. I truly do embrace my non TULIP sniffing siblings as siblings, if they can embrace me. Anyway I hope to now on be a bit less annoying, and enjoy more fellowship of the Saints, ALL the saints. I ask forgiveness of those hurt or offended, while I will not apologize for standing on my convictions nor stop doing so, but I will cease from arguing NON essential convictions.
