Slant drilling was the cause of the US led coalition attack on Iraq in the 90s. Saddam discovered that while at war with Iran the kuwaitis were slant drilling for years. Billions lost...Saddam also gained approval from the US before occupying Kuwait, which is historically part of Iraq and was to return to Iraq, I believe, 1963.
