In light of that, here are some things that you should know in order to make things run smoothly. This year, Cheyney University will have 13 Living Learning Communities (LLC) in all residence halls. LLC at Cheyney University are groups of students who have similar academic majors or interests and often take one or more of the same courses. All new students (freshmen and transfers) are required to actively participate in learning communities in order to live in the New Residence Hall. The LLC include: • Business • Communication Arts • Education • Hotel Restaurant Tourism Management • Red Cross Public Service and Volunteerism (all majors welcome) • Social and Behavioral Sciences • Science Technology Engineering Mathematics • Spanish Culture and Language • Transfer Students • Undeclared Majors • Phenomenal Women: Zora Neale Hurston (for women only) • Malcolm X (for men only) • Students Eagerly Exploring Knowledge (University College must assign you to this) *You can find a description of each LLC at https://facebook/cheyney.livinglearning To sign up, please contact Tiffany Alexander, M.S., Coordinator of Student Engagement-Learning Communities at [email protected] or call 610-399-2440. A helpful student resource is the Academic Success Center (ASC). Located on the 2nd floor of Vaux Logan, it offers services such as tutoring and computer access to assist students in becoming efficient and effective learners through a student-friendly environment. Students can participate in individual and group academic support programming, such as tutorials and workshops, which can be accessed on-line. You can also use the ASC computer lab for internet and word-processing work. The ASC is a spacious and quiet environment to study – you are encouraged to use it. Remember, for your convenience, the Wade Wilson Building is a one-stop shop for all of your processing needs. The Registrar and Bursar Offices are on the 1st floor. The Registrar and Bursars Offices are on the first floor. The Admissions and Financial Aid Offices are on the second floor. So, plan ahead, complete all necessary paperwork, take care of all outstanding finances and do whatever else you need to do to ensure that you are cleared for classes which start August 26th. Enjoy the rest of your summer and be safe, Dr. Suzanne D. Phillips Vice President of Student Affairs and Student Life
