Important update: TONIGHTs Zoning Board meeting to review proposal - TopicsExpress

Important update: TONIGHTs Zoning Board meeting to review proposal by Louis to subdivide parking lot from restaurant parcel WILL BE CONTINUED. Last Thursday, I hosted a neighborhood meeting to give neighbors an opportunity to review proposal and ask questions prior to the zoning board hearing. Neighbors were concerned about parking infiltrating the neighborhood, use of the trailer lot for vehicles without boats and potential violation of the Citys Memorandum of Understanding the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, and not wanting to see more dense development in this area. The idea was posed to have the City of Quincy purchase the parking lot from Louis for use as public parking which could benefit the neighborhood, the adjacent Houghs Neck Maritime Center/Public Landing facilities and restaurant patrons. Neighbors understand the impact of the associated land costs to the restaurant and want to see the continuity of this iconic Houghs Neck business. I have met with Mayor Tom Koch to discuss posing this idea to the Community Preservation Committee for this acquisition, as his support is necessary in addition to the committees and the City Councils. As a result of this pending consideration, the applicant has requested a continuance of the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting. I have also posed the question relative to parking review of the License Board. ZBA meetings are currently scheduled for Tuesdays, October 21 and November 18. When I hear which meeting agenda we are scheduled for, I will email and post to Facebook.
