Improvements are coming to California, Western and Damen this fall, on the OHare Branch of the Blue Line, including major restoration and repair work at the historic California and Damen stops, both of which opened in 1895. The station part of the Your New Blue project will begin with work at the California station, followed by Western and Damen. Though the California and Damen stations will be temporarily closed, they wont be closed at the same time (and work at the newer Western stop will not require a closure). - California will be closed for 42 days, from Sept. 4 until Oct. 16. - Damen is set to be closed for 63 days, from Oct. 20 until Dec. 22. During this time, additional #56 Milwaukee bus service will be added during weekday rush hours, with “owl” service during overnight hours to link the closest stations in either direction of the closed station.
