In fact, in all of Potchefstroom that year 1,474 students were enrolled. All white. No blacks, no coloureds, no indians. They werent allowed. In 1958, 89% of University students in all of South Africa were white (+- 19% of the population). Now at the same time, President Zuma was 14 years old. His father had died when he was very young and his mother was a domestic worker. A maid for a white family. She could not afford to send him to school. So he didnt go to school. By the time Zuma would reach the age of 22, the age De Klerk graduated, he would already have spent the first of his ten years on Robben Island. He was in jail hammering at the rocks in the stone quarry among other things. You know the shit prisoners on Robben Island tended to do. A bit hard to get his degree then. One last thing, De Klerk was elected to the Presidency when only whites could vote. The other side of the coin.
