In 1 Timothy 6, Paul starts off by instructing slaves to serve - TopicsExpress

In 1 Timothy 6, Paul starts off by instructing slaves to serve their masters well, and to have a good testimony by they way they act and talk to their masters. If people are teaching in a way that does not challenge and encourage people toward a life of Godliness they are proud, and blinded by their pride. Such false teaching causes all kinds of strife, disagreements, and problems, including people who only live a Godly life thinking it will bring them financial gain. Paul does not say that money is the root of all evil, but rather the “love of money” is the root of all evil. He then challenges Timothy to avoid the temptation of wealth, and peruse righteousness and Godliness. Paul ends the book with instructions for those who have been financial blessed to share what God has given them with others, and to store up treasures in Heaven.
