In 1887, Lewis L. Bradbury bought this 35-room structure, in Los Angeles Bunker Hill area complete with 5 chimneys and 5 turrets. Filmmaker Hal Roachs studios occupied while he was working with Harold Lloyd, who referred to the mansion as pneumonia hall, due to the buildings high level of draftiness. Surprisingly it had almost identical twin in Fort Worth built by E.E. Chase in the center of what is now Chase Court. Chases Bellevue Hall hall burned to the ground on July 24, 1893. The Bradbury mansion was demolished in 1929. Im still working on a book about Chase Court to come out next fall. Any photos, recollections or ephemera would be greatly appreciated.
